How we work together

Tailored coaching to strengthen your craft, nurture your process, and build a writing practice you can trust, even when it's hard.

Support that meets you where you are.

Whether you’re struggling to shape your ideas, stuck in the middle, searching for the structure to finish, or simply craving thoughtful feedback during revision, you’re not alone.

The journey to a finished draft takes more than just discipline. It takes support, accountability, and a trusted partner in the work.

Coaching Paths

Every project is different, but we won't be winging it.

Through practical exercises, tailored feedback, and collaborative discussion, we'll focus on craft, process, and resilience at every phase of your work. â€‹

Drafting & Development Coaching

For writers working toward a full draft who want guidance as their story takes shape.

Together we:

  • Clarify and deepen core ideas, story structure, and character arcs

  • Explore new pages as the draft takes shape

  • Work through story and craft challenges in real time

  • Build a writing practice that fits your real life and creates sustainable momentum

  • Set achievable short- and long-term goals with gentle accountability

Revision Coaching

For writers with a completed draft who want guidance through the revision process.

Together we:

  • Identify structural and developmental opportunities for improvement

  • Strengthen stakes, tension, character arcs, and relationships

  • Discuss how to make changes — not just point out issues

  • Work through feedback through in-document edits, written notes, and our Zoom sessions.

This path is collaborative. Rather than receiving a single editorial letter, we revise the draft together step-by-step over time.

Coaching starts at $950/month depending on session frequency, submission schedule, turnaround, and scope of writing.

Ready to move your writing forward?

What this is:

Ongoing coaching and feedback throughout development, drafting, and revision

One-on-one support tailored to your project, timeline, goals, and everyday life

A collaborative process over time

Guidance between sessions, not just during them

Building sustainable writing practices for long-term momentum

What this isn't:

A one-time manuscript critique or editorial letter to implement on your own

Pre-recorded videos or standardized coursework

Accountability-only coaching

Ghostwriting

Coaching that focuses only on the story — not the writing process

Who it's for:

Are you...

Working on a narrative project?

That includes short- or long-form fiction, memoir, or screenplays. The core challenges of story, structure, and voice show up across genres. If your project is rooted in story and character, you're in the right place.

Sitting on an idea or draft?

I work with writers in many stages of the process, whether you’re just beginning, need a push to reach "The End," or are deep in revision.

Balancing your writing with real life?

Together, we build focused momentum and meaningful progress — without burning out.

How it Works

1.  Book a free discovery call.

Let's chat about your project, goals, and process - no pressure or obligation. Afterwards, you'll receive a custom coaching proposal.

You can also schedule a call here.

2.  Determine meeting and submission frequency.

Most writers choose one of two rhythms:

  • Monthly Coaching: one 90-minute session per month for steady momentum and space to think through the work. Between sessions, you'll receive email support and brief check-ins.

  • Biweekly Coaching: two 90-minute sessions per month for closer partnership and faster momentum. Between sessions, you'll receive priority email access and check-ins.

3.  Schedule a kickoff call.

We'll troubleshoot initial challenges, establish milestones and long-term goals, and set up a private shared drive for drafts, materials, trackers, and more.

4.  Submit drafts and attend Zoom sessions.

You'll receive feedback beforehand so we can discuss it together. We will also address obstacles and set achievable short-term goals.

Curious if we're the right fit?

Meet your coach

Hi, I'm Jaycee — a writer, writing coach, former film executive, and mom to a toddler (and a dog). I help fiction writers, memoirists, and screenwriters navigate the brave, messy writing process to create work they're proud of.

I've worked with writers at every stage — from students to New York Times bestselling authors to Academy Award-nominated screenwriters. In every situation, I deeply value creating a supportive space to untangle ideas and get to the heart of what matters most.

After over a decade in film development (and a detour in marketing), I started Brave Messy Words to give writers the clarity, confidence, and support I needed myself.
